This was inevitable – blasting away at Harold Camping’s Judgment Day and his obvious chronological-numerological absurdities (which I will – so you get this just before May 21, 2011, and you’re still around while some 200,000,000 souls are raptured and you’re LEFT BEHIND – I might be gone for other reasons!). You’ll probably get this missive after May 21, 2011 – I’m actually writing it on May 11, 2011 – another mysterious date in which the Romans left Rome (20% of them) for fear of some prophesied earthquake that never hit – it actually hit in Spain, so it goes…. Now, this “article” is rather extended – so, since most of you will find it cumbersome, don’t despair – it’s worth the read – we cover quite a bit…everything from Camping to space-time travel; you’ll see. Actually, I wanted this article released just a little after Judgment Day – but maybe I’ll just make it under the wire (May 20, 2011) to prove a point; but just because Harold’s a little wacky on his calculations doesn’t mean there is not a “solution” to the math problem – there is, but obviously, after multiple attempts, I as a former math teacher (literally) would pull him aside and “go through the steps” – “Harold, you flunked! Perhaps some more remedial work is necessary . . . .” On the other hand, “Don’t Worry – Be Happy” is not the backdrop the Almighty wants. In order to “plot and plan” for the lead up to the “end of days” there are certain mathematical equations which the Almighty has laid out in order for us to “understand” His purposes. You may laugh or get upset about that, but that is precisely what the books of Daniel and Revelation, as well as many other texts, indicate. You see, and as it turns out, the Mayans, the Greeks, the Arabs and a host of mathematical cultures and climes – including the Chaldeans of Babylon – all “knew that something was up.” Also, that it could be determined or expressed by astronomical means, careful observation and, eventually, mathematically demonstrated to prove it was always there and could be manipulated to communicate reality or possible and probable relationships, dates, distances, weights, and various measurements. It has been rightly conjectured by the likes of Sir Isaac Newton, among others, that the “ancients” most likely possessed what Newton called “perfect knowledge” or in Latin: prisca sapientia. He knew it was embedded in the Bible; therefore, he spent decades searching for it, for in it, he affirmed, that the Almighty would, in the end of days fully disclose His purposes for His creation. Now, that’s what many astrologers, mystics, gurus, enchanters, channelers, hucksters, false prophets and folks like Harold Camping confirm as well – the only thing is, many, if not most of their calculations are fraught with fundamental misconceptions and erroneous data. But remember, Jesus elaborated upon His end-time’s theme – that it would be surrounded by deception, false christs and false prophets, evil seducers and, in sum, it’s a minefield out there but there is the other side . . . and that’s where, by God’s grace, we’re headed! Deception is truth distorted; nevertheless, there is truth. Just because it took Edison around a thousand (some say 10,000) tries to discover the practical lightbulb, doesn’t mean it couldn’t be done . . . someone had to discover it! Researchers and authors Tom Horn and David Flynn – especially in Flynn’s Temple at the Center of Time, Newton’s Bible Codex Deciphered and the Year 2012 – believe it was, in fact, “right in front of him (Newton) . . . . The technology to unveil it did not exist until now.”
The Valley of Decision by Dene McGriff “Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.” (II Peter 3:4) If ever there were a generation that is sick and tired of gloom and doom prophecy, this has got to be it. Whether secular, religious or just plain mystical, people are declaring the end of the world and it just hasn’t happened. I remember in graduate school in 1972, the Club of Rome proved mathematically that the world could not sustain its population in the book “Limits to Growth.” We see whole groups started based upon their prophetic interpretation: the Jehovah’s Witness, the Seventh Day Adventists and the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints (the Mormons) – these all making dire predictions and timelines which have been missed time and again. Then you have various psychics such as Nostradamus to the Mayan Calendar ending on December 21, 2012. Of course, Hollywood has glorified these speculations with movies about the end of days, Armageddon, Left Behind, 2012, etc. On a more serious note, you have prophetic predictions by Hal Lindsey who called for the end by 1987 (40 years after Israel became a nation) to several missed and one upcoming call by Harold Camping whose upcoming Judgment Day is arriving in just a few days from now – May 21, 2012. And then we are all aware of the real crazies such as Jim Jones, and David Koresh, the Heaven’s Gate Hale-Bopp Comet suicide. The late Dave Wilkerson also began to predict the coming judgment beginning with “The Vision” in 1974 followed by several others. So is prophecy relevant? Which prophecy? Taught by whom? Is it relevant in my everyday life? Who should I listen to? Where should I get information? How do I determine which is right and which is wrong? Isn’t that just about impossible? Readers, this is not something we can even explain. It is something you have to get directly from God. He wants to reveal it to you and unless you have a personal revelation and confirmation deep within your being, there isn’t anything we can say or do to convince you. As a society and a church, we are lukewarm, wealthy, thinking we have need of nothing. We don’t care. We are caught up with our I-phones, I-pads, Facebook, Sitcoms, news networks. We are the most distracted, overworked, frightened generation the world has ever seen. Yet God is calling His saints to a higher calling, to the churche's finest hour.
THE RIGHT-WING ANTICHRIST …Snookering the Evangelical Left Chapter 25, the False Prophet by Doug Krieger “‘I carried some rather potent messianic fantasies with me from childhood, which I felt I had to control otherwise they might get me into trouble.’” “Yet, what is one to make of a child who believed he was God?” “Yet, as an adult, he offered no sign, no dismissive gesture, no footnote signifying that he no longer clung to such wild convictions, but only the suggestion of how difficult it was for someone to believe himself a deity.” (The unauthorized biography of Soros (George)—Soros, The Life, Times & Trading Secrets of the World’s Greatest Investor). The False Prophet’s clever distractions – let alone those absorbed in their own self-approbation and propriety – will proliferate in the end of days – what appears self-evident, turns out to be bogus. In sum – and I will occasionally repeat this: It’s the economy stupid! Our notion that a “false christ” has to be someone with at least “religious overtones” isn’t always the case. You see, messiahs come in all sizes. Likewise, their utopian message of “liberty, equality, fraternity” can lob off your head as in the French Revolution or extend self-sacrificial love by feeding the poor at the Union Gospel Rescue Mission. Messiah connotes Deliverer, Deliverance. So, to some – especially the Lefties among us – anything that smacks of elitism, particularism or some form of absolutism are anathema (whoops, the practice of “spiritual apartheid”) to “progressives.” Therefore, those among the Left who are ultra-self-absorbed types – but whose funding mechanisms do mean a lot to us – should keep their messianic aspirations coy…just shroud them on the interior and release them only to make yourself more humble; that way, we’ll enjoy the ride and put up with your overweening sense of propriety…at least, it’s more tolerable to our liberal sensitivities. Oh, and by the way, memories conveniently fail – as they are wont to do – for they who incessantly parade the racism of fascism about as fertile ground for Antichrist…not forgetting the Hitler-Tojo Axis did in fact kill its millions…but the Left’s carnage, you know, the atheistic religious fervency of the Stalin-Mao insanity, maimed and mauled its millions, perhaps more so. Therefore, lest we forget who’s Right and who’s Left here….
